Special post- praciting

Last summer, when I went China, my parents asked to go to their friend's company, and worked there for 20 days. I was not very happy to work there at first, because I haven't been long time to go home and meet my friends,  I didn' t want to waste time on the intership. But after I worked for one week, I found there were a lot of things I can learn and I needed to learn. It is very interesting.
As I know, they had a big project, they were planning to build a big storage for storing madecine. The stuff told me, A good storage is very significant for a supply chain company, and it is also an important part of whole process. And this projcet just begun, and it needed many requirements, such as composition, temperature, qulity of machines, waterproof, etc. And many things I've never seem before. My job was printing documents, cleaning the officeroom, and some little things. Although they didn't let to deal the documents, I think the work experience was very important for me. Because I was not graduated yet, and I didn't know anythings about Suppy Chain Management. I think next time I go to his company, I will do more things and learn more things.

Summative Eassy

Section One: Learning about my filed

During my research I've learned many things of my major Supply Chain management, such as what's Supply Chain management? How is the development prospect of this major? What kind of job can I find after graduating, and so on. Those questions are all I asked my friend who has same major as me before I writing the blog. And now, I find all the answers by doing this research.

At first, the basic ethics, what is Supply Chain Management? Supply Chain Management is the basic principle of application management and scientific method, the logistics activity plan, organize, command, coordinate, control and supervision and make the logistics activities to achieve the best coordination and cooperation, and reduce logistics cost and improve logistics efficiency and economic benefits.

In addition, what is the most significant things of Supply Chain management? There are three major functions of logistics. First, creating time value: same goods can be valued different at different times. Goods often stop during the transfer process, which is professionally called the storage of logistics. It creates the time value for goods. Second, creating location value: same goods can be valued differently at different locations. The value added during the transfer process is the location value of logistics. Third, distribution processing value: sometimes logistics create distribution processing value, which changes the length, thickness and packages of the goods. Like popular saying, “ cutting into smaller parts” is the most commonly seen distribution processing within logistics create added value for goods.

Finally, this question is all the students care about. What kind of job can we find after we graduating? Actually, in our daily live, logistics is around us. People wants delivery some food, it is logistics; people wants buy some stuffs online, and ups send it to you, it is logistics; hospital stores a lot of medicines in storage, it is logistics; etc. Therefore, students maybe easier for find a appropriate job after graduating, because logistics is related to many industries. From my blog post, there are some data to show employment rate and salary of students graduate by Supply chain management. "The Institute for Supply Chain Management’s 2011 survey shows that the average salary for supply chain management professionals is $103,664, up from $98,200 a year earlier. The average entry-level professional supply management salary is about $49,500, but the average salary of those with five or fewer years of experience is $83,689, up from $72,908 in 2010, an increase of nearly 15 percent." So, it is a good major that students can choose, and it will be a big thing in the future.

Section Two: Learning about my Research/Writing

After doing this project, I learned a lot interesting and significant things of my major, and I realized this major is good for me. Because Supply Chain Management of MSU is ranked by two of whole American universities, and firstly I have already had a good study environment for doing my work. Personally, Before I came to America, my parents chose the major for me which is Supply Chain Management. They told me, logistics is a newest industry in China, and it is not complete. A lot of small companies appeared and many people chose to join this industry. When I finish my study at America and go back China, I will easy to find a good job, or I can establish a new company, and other companies to competition. Moreover, according my research, there are some date shows the salary of this industry in American is very impressive. So I can also find a job at America after graduating. There is another benefit that I gained after this research, I learned many useful and helpful knowledge about my major. Although the information that I found was not comprehensive and detailed, it is also a good way to prepare to take my major courses and it tells me what I will learn and what I need to learn in the future.

On the other way, I have to read some article for writing those blogs. During this project, I read a lot of article online, some of those article are related to my major, and some of them are about many interesting news or things. When I reading those article, I felt I was uneducated, and I felt I have a lot of things to know, to learn, not only my major's information. How can a person to be a successful businessman? He is not only good at his filed, but also must know much about other filed, and his knowledge must be very widened. My father is a good businessman, and he read newspaper every day, and he is also interested in reading different kinds of books. He used to tell me, read more books, learn more, and never stop.

I asked some questions before doing the research, and they were all solved. But now, I am feeling I have more questions in my mind, and I am willing to take my major courses to solve more question.

Renren, the most popular social-networking service in China. I have been using it for 3 years and what I saw everyday from my homepage, is at least one of my friends or school mates register in this social-network. It is undeniable that Renren is a really appropriate way to meet friends or making friends whom you didn't know. The fact is I did really meet some of my classmates who out of touch for so long.
Also, people post their status, articles and photographs. And people were interested in those would share information about what they saw and what they liked. So, even people stay home for all day, they still know what was happening around them or the world.
But those benefits also has some bad influences. People start to try to know everything from this social-networking. They didn't read papers, stop watching news. But social-networks are basically different from web portals, they had big numbers of personal ideas and opinions. And those are easy to change your point of views which might be dangers in some points.

Special post- argument

After I read the artcle "The Importance of Education in Supply Chain Management", I think education of Supply Chain Management in China is not complete and enough. In America, there are many good universities are good at this filed, such as MSU. That's why my parens sent me to MSU to learn this major. However, a good learning environment and high qulity education is not enough. Students should do a lot social work, such as intership in a big supply chain company, or realiza the
global logistics dynamic. Because after we graduate and go out to find a job. Those companies are not only care about our degree, but also experience of this job.
I have many friend choose this major, and they are also searching for a big company to have an intership. But it is hard to find an intership in America as a international students. Therefore, I suppose to find an intership when I go back China next summer, before I graduate. It will be more helpful to me in the future.

Originally, its meaning comes from oral marketing that when people feel good about the product, they can talk about it to other people. Therefore, the marketing can be done by customers mouth-to-mouth. In the past, the marketer use viral marketing by providing products free for customers.(actually this free offer is done these days; for example, one film producer can attract a lot of people by making soundtrack free for download). However, the concept of viral marketing has been changed. Viral marketing (also called viral advertising) is a term that describes marketing techniques that the effect of marketing is spread like a virus. Viral marketing is used by methods of “social-networking site, video, flash games, images, etc” With this method, marketers can reach a lot of people.

I think the artcle is audience is busenessman who work on this filed and people who study of this filed. The author wants people to realize this strange major more. This artcle is esay to understand because the rhetoric is informal and simple. I think the author wants more and more people to read the artcle and it will be easy for them.

I have used cell phone since I went to the high school. At that time, cell phone was the only way for me to contact with my parents because I lived in dorm. I made a phone call to them every day to share my happiness and sadness. Cell phone reduced my homesickness. As time goes by, almost everyone has a cell phone and it has gradually become a new way to keep connection with each other. In most cases, as long as the cell phone is in service, I am able to find anyone at any time in any place. Moreover, text is another useful function. Talking on the phone is sometimes an inconvenience. At this time, text plays its role. In some cases, text is a good way to exchange emotions. To some extent, the saying, “phone teaser”, refers to text. As for me, cell phone has become the most vital method for me to communicate with others.
Nowadays, so-called cell phone is more like a combination of traditional phone and pocket PC. People use cell phones to contact each other, play games, listen to music, surf the Internet, search for the map and do many other things as well. The function I use most is entertainment.

According to this article, I got the news that Germany makes this decision that the whole lot of the country’s nuclear power factories will be shut down before 2022 this year. Then we can found that the Japanese earthquake caused serious nuclear leak, lets the world, especially in the developed countries of Europe by nuclear power proportion big country caused very big influence. My major is geography when I studied in high school, so I know something about nature resources. Originally nuclear power is a more efficient and clean way of generating, but nuclear technology is a double-edged sword, it also with highest risk. If no accident happen is best, once, an accident of human will cause huge damage to the environment, just like the Fukushima event happened few months ago. Nuclear radiation not only impact on contemporary human, but also to change people's genes by radiation, leading to their descendants have also been seriously affected. A very typical example is the Chernobyl event; even though it happened in 1986, the children who were born after that year also have something strange with their body and brain today.

First and foremost, people enjoy volunteering because of the unbalanced society. Nowadays, most people have a high standard of life, but there are also some people live under normal standard of lives. For example, in China, about 300 thousand children cannot go to school because lack of education of resources and high tuition fee. Therefore, some rich people and rich companies built school in poor areas. However, these places are very poor and far from big cities that means there is a lack of teaching resources, so many colleges’ students thought they should be volunteers to help people who come from these poor city. The most surprising thing is that there are many foreigners in the projects, such as Anke Lu who comes from Germany and has been a volunteer about 10 years. During an interview, he told the interviewer that he just want more children to go to schools. Like Anke Lu, all volunteers never get any benefits because they just want to help the government and society to do something they can.

In contemporary society, there are many GM foods which are genetically modified ones, such GM food as salmon, tomato, and so on. This food is made by changing some genes of animals or plants. According to the article, the Food and Drug Administration stated that “as safe to eat as food from other Atlantic salmon” (Leslie Gevirtz, 2010). Like this, not only the U.S government, but the Korean government also claims that the GMO, genetically modified organism, is safe; however, most people do not accept GM foods. In other words, they people worldwide do not want to eat GM food for some reasons. While the number of the GM food is increasing, people still have a doubt about the security of GM food. This is because GM foods do not testify whether the GM food is safe or not, because of the fact that the study about this kind of foods is still studying by scientists. Nowadays, there is lots of new information about GM food by researcher. Some of information is that GM food is the same as regular good. On the other hand, others said that GM food is harmful to human body and the environment. Like this, GM food is still controversial, so this causes people not to trust the GM food.

This news is published on july 27, 2011, by RACHEL CROMIDAS from The New York Times. the reporter introduces the new creative camp at Bard College in New York City for low income students gifted in mathematics, ages ranged around eighth-grade.
these adolescents who were selected to this math-camp are more outstanding in mathematics than their peers. everyday, these kids have to go through 6 hours of head-scratching math instruction in a college dormitory far from home. however, for them, this heavy workload does not feels like what it sounds, not just because their talent and innate interests to mathematics, but also due to the well-designed strategy and detail by program holder. some of strategies are purposely designed to make the campers spontaneously cooperate to the program. as writen in the news, "they all love math. At this camp, asking “What kind of math do you like, algebra or geometry?” is considered an appropriate icebreaker, and invoking the newly learned term “the multiplication principle” elicits whoops and high-fives." some campers express that eventhought the camp is boring sometimes, but they are really thankful for this free training because they could understand the insightful effect this camp can give them in future.
In my opinion, this kind of academic training will definitely enable these kids competiveness in academic aspects in future. as we know, math the most important part of the general education in every educational system over the world; especially for the entry-college level education, the heavy math training will bring the campers a huge advantage compare to the peers. However, this kind of activity might has some side-effects to the whole education system. few years ago, the same phenomenon appears in china, many summer academic camp becomes most students' choices. the major reason for this academic camp boom is because a specialization in certain academic subject, such as prizes in academic olympics championship, can be an bonus condition for college entry exam.

I believe that if people can deal the technology problems, there must be more and more countries want to join and accept dealing with Greenhouse gas problem. At first, energy should be changed. Although fuels are very useful; oil is important for factories, it is the main “crime culprit” of global warming. There are lot kinds of other energy that people can use, but why do most countries still use oil? Because those new technology is not good enough now. For example, the wind energy is a perfect energy that is renewable, sometimes cannot afford enough energy; some people even say it can kill birds. I have to accept that some birds really were killed by this kind of machine, but the number is so little when it compared with other situations, like airplane, car, humans’ big buildings.

 Food

When I went to the U.S I think most of the Chinese food here have change the original taste, because people wants to earn more money and it compel them to change the taste and let American people feel good, but be honest to say, when I try those kind of food I think that is nausea and I am confused about why American people love it? For example, as everyone know American people could enjoy one of the Chinese food which is Orange chicken, because when went to Panda Express, I saw most American chose the Orange Chicken, and some one wanted double. But in the China, I never try that in my whole life.

Maybe you should go to China to taste real Chinese food. ^.^

Supply Chain Management: The Next Big Thing?

http://www.businessweek.com/business-schools/supply-chain-management-the-next-big-thing-09122011.html#disqus_thread

Supply Chain Management is becoming more popular in business area.

The number of freshman supply chain majors at the Carey School has doubled since the 2007-08 academic year. This year, there were 211 senior majors and 18 freshman majors. Salaries are another draw. The Institute for Supply Chain Management’s 2011 survey shows that the average salary for supply chain management professionals is $103,664, up from $98,200 a year earlier. The average entry-level professional supply management salary is about $49,500, but the average salary of those with five or fewer years of experience is $83,689, up from $72,908 in 2010, an increase of nearly 15 percent.

According those data, we can know more and more student choose Supply Chain Managment, and after they graduate, they can find a job with a good salary.

This is the reason why I chose this major, and as I know, many of friend and international students changed their major to Supply Chain Management.
